OnePlus 8 series

In the era of smartphones, where price tags are sky rocketing comes a brand named Oneplus. The brand is built on a name of “Flagship Killer”. The Generation Z wants everything to be fast and smooth and that’s what Oneplus fundamentally based upon. This brand is focused on all groups of people, weather you are a heavy user or casual gamer, they’ve got you covered. So…

In 2020, Oneplus introduced the Oneplus 8 and the Oneplus 8 pro and they went all out with the 8 pro. It now gets all the stuff it’s been lacking like the official IP68 rating, wireless charging and a great camera but this is only the case with the pro version, the standard 8 still doesn’t have all things mentioned above but it still is a great phone, it still ticks most of the boxes.

With that note, let’s talk about the displays. The Oneplus 8 pro has a 6.78 inch display and what I think is the best display in the market right now, as it is a 120hz, QHD+, fluid AMOLED display with a 3168×1440 screen resolution and 19.8:9 aspect ratio and it can do 120hz with QHD+ at the same time as compared to the S20 series which only allows you to go full on either refresh rate or screen resolution at a time. Its display can go upto 1300 nits of brightness which is really good.

The Oneplus 8’s display is a 6.55 inch FHD+, 1080×2400, 90hz panel and it’s not as good as the sibling but it not bad by any means, you still get the buttery smooth feeling of that 90hz refresh rate with bright colors and deep blacks of an OLED display. It can go upto 1100 nits of brightness, which can be useful when used in direct sunlight.

Now, coming to cameras. The Oneplus 8 pro has a quad camera setup containing the main camera of 48mp with Sony IMX 689 sensor, f/1.78 aperture and OIS. The second camera is a 48mp ultra-wide angle lens with a 117° field of view. The third lens is a 8mp 3x telephoto camera with OIS and the final lens is a color filter camera and compared to previous years, the camera is bang on a flagship level camera. It has better dynamic range, punchy colors but it still tend to lose focus if the object is small or thin. It can shoot upto 4k 60fps and also has a macro mode.

With the Oneplus 8, you still get the last year camera setup. It has a triple camera setup of 48mp with f/1.7 aperture primary lens with OIS, the ultra-wide angle lens of f/2.2 16mp lens and a third 2mp macro camera and it’s not great. In daylight, it can capture awesome shots but in low light or macro shots, the quality can deteriorate. Both phones have the same f/2.2 16mp front cameras which shoot only 1080p videos.

Both phones are future-proof because both comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 with the X55 modem which is 5g ready. Both phones support the warp charge 30t out of the box which can charge your phone 50% in 23 minutes but the pro can do insane 30w wireless charging which can get you 50% in 30 minutes. The Oneplus 8 and 8 pro comes with UFS 3.0 storage and LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM for Oneplus 8 And 8 Pro, respectively. They both also come with a base storage of 128gb with 6gb of RAM. Both have stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos.

The Oneplus 8 comes with a 4300 mah capacity battery whereas the Oneplus 8 pro comes 4510 mah battery.

Now, if you’re in the market looking for a new phone which is fast and smooth then you can buy these with your eyes closed.
